Texas Tandoori Goat/Lamb Chops

Inspired by the legendary goat chops at a famous Houston restaurant (Agha’s), this recipe captures the essence of authentic south asian tandoori flavors. While originally crafted to mimic the restaurant's signature dish, these chops work perfectly with both goat and lamb, bringing restaurant-quality taste to your home grill.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb goat or lamb chops
  • 3 tablespoons Texas Tandoori rub
  • 1.5 tablespoons avacado (or any neutral) oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice or 1 medium lemon squeezed
  • Morton kosher salt to taste (we typically use about 1 tablespoon)
  • (optional) 1-2 teaspoons of dried herbs or 1-2 tablespoons of fresh herbs  thyme, mint, or fennel seeds.

Directions:

  1. Whisk together the marinade by mixing Texas Tandoori rub, oil, lemon juice, kosher salt, and herbs (optional) . Taste and adjust salt content to your preference.
  2. Marinade goat/lamb chops for 1 hr, up to 24 hours
  3. Grill over medium-high heat, about 4-6 minutes per side until desired doneness (about 130 for medium to medium-rare)
